Elisa Monreal

My passion is art and creation:
I am dedicated to muralism, street art, painting, drawing, jewellery making, designing + sewing + painting clothes, Community muralism, and also work at La Maison des Jeunes de Cote-des-Neiges as an Animator, Interventionist, and Art-facilitator. I am constantly working to use artistic expression towards social and community empowerment. For several years I have been searching for exactly this, and have had amazing experiences in this field in Canada as well as internationally. My current work at la Maison des Jeunes has given me the opportunity to work in several artistic projects, specifically empower young women from our group called 'She Leads', through art.

I am Canadian-Chilean, and currently live in Montreal, Quebec since 1999. I have a Bachelor Degree in Studio Arts from Concordia University, but have acquired some of my deepest knowledge from living, studying and working abroad. In the last 5 years I lived in Oaxaca, Mexico and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In Brazil I was forunate to have worked with two major NGO's who's mission is to empower individuals and communities through the Arts. AfroReggae, who focuses on youth through art and culture as alternatives to the violence and narcotraffiking in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro. As well as, with the Peoples Palace Project, where I gave a Painting Workshop at a Women’s Penitentiary, which was later inlcuded in a National project and exhibition.

All of this to say, I feel that the most powerful tool is to follow your passion with all of your heart!
Please feel free to contact Elisa if you are looking for inspiration and/or support for muralism, graffiti, and design projects.
