Facebook, blogs and twitter, no doubt about it, we live in a super-connected world. However, young women are making the web their own and creating girl-only online spaces to connect, be healthy and speak up!
kickaction.ca is teaming up with the BC Centre of Excellence for Women's Health to find out how young women are using the web and we want to hear from YOU!

As a young woman, what do you get out of participating in all-girl online spaces, like Kickaction?

Hello, I am a mom of 57 years old and I have the privilege of being able to own a computer and be able to use it. I found Kikaction simply browsing thrue the Net, trying to find out more about women engaged in making this world a better place to be. So glad I found you! I work with women and children victims of domestic violence. Lately, we invited the population of our town to join us in building a mosaic representing a White Ribbon, symbol of peace and non-violence. It worked beautifully! To visit our page of Facebook, simply write Défi-Mobilisation Thetford Mines.
Goog luck to all and have a very Merry Xmas!

I get a feeling of solidarity, support, and understanding from the like-minded women I interact with on the internet. I've learnt to break down my internalised misogyny, and to be body-positive about myself.
We discuss many issues from abuse, to assault, to child trafficking, and cultural appropriation. I've become more aware of issues people outside of myself deal with, and how to be supportive.
These spaces have taught me to be confident, and accepting of who I am physically and mentally.

It is a unique way to have on-line spaces specifically for girls.Without fear and confusion we can share our worries and problems. This is a great opportunity for those individual girls out there who are shy and are unable to speak what they want to due to their lack of confidence. We get to know the solutions of problems and learn lessons from others. We get to express our views and ideas to the world and it helps us function better in our everyday lives, thus on-line spaces specifically for girls can play a huge role :)

I am able to share my thoughts in a space that is friendly, understanding, and confidential. I know I will be respected and not judged. I can learn from other girls going through similar problems as myself and I feel that I am not alone. I also get tools and tips for improving my life and helping others. Thank you Kickaction!
