I had the extremely fortunate chance to see Angela Davis speak last night on the topic of Racism, Power and Media. Where she proved once again why she deserves our love and admiration.

 

My first day back from vacation and I'm sifting through the hundreds of emails in my work inbox.  Amongst all the spam, listserv emails and articles are several really interesting invitations to events happening all over.

The first anxiety zine was an absolutely beautiful compliation of stories, art and resources about how people feel anxiety, how they deal with it, what their stories are about it, and where they get support.

Some of you may be aware of my interest in robots, born out of my ability to draw them and pretty much nothing else. It's a passive interest (I don't have posters up in my room or tattoos of robots) but when I notice a new story about them I tend to check it out.

Go Girls (Vancouver) is presenting an un-conference this weekend.

Many of you are familiar with Hawa and Nasra, and if you aren't you need to meet them because they are doing fantastic things.

Like starting up an organization that is, in their words, "determined to make a difference in the way youth are viewed in both the local and global community through the use of art". Their organization will, again in their words, "break normalized and institutionalized barriers by having racialized youth at the forefront of organizations, as well as in the media world."

And they're looking for volunteers. Here's your chance to meet them!

Awww, we're home. We miss the L Project. And debriefs. And the hike up the hill to our 'auberge' space. And talking together.
